"Excellent quality, service & prices, Steve is an artist, one of the 'old pros' "
Since 1967, Skara Metal Foundry Ltd. has produced castings for manufacturing companies in Ontario, Quebec and select parts of America. Bring us your complicated and intricate machine part or object and our team will create a meticulously rendered casting.
How Does Casting Work?
At Skara Metal Foundry Ltd., we like to keep our methods simple. You give us the object you’d like cast. We create a mould by either imprinting your object in sand or using a permanent mould casting method. We’ll then pour aluminium, brass or bronze into the mould, completing the process.
Sand Casting Versus Permanent Mould Casting
Sand casting is an inexpensive method that is suitable for smaller budgets. While the process is slower, it is great for low production sizes. Should your project be larger in scale, we recommend permanent mould casting. While it is more expensive than sand casting, it is also more efficient. With this method, it’s possible to create 20 to 30 castings per hour. To speak to one of our staff about the right casting method for you, give us a call today.
